Empties

In the last weeks I tried to get rid of some sample sachets that pile up in my sample drawer. Yes, I admit it: I have a small drawer where I have to stock samples and trial sizes because there are soo much of them. I used up quite a lot and liked some of the products.

  • Yüli Halcyon Cleanser: I liked it so much that I bought a full size.
  • Dr. Alkaitis Organic Treatment Oil: This is part of the travel kit which I also bought.
  • Urtekram Blond Shampoo: When I think about it, I like Urtekram as a brand very much. I also used up a large bottle of shampoo and have stocked some other items. I am not blonde, but the shampoo was even nice for my hair. It is good to know for me that the formulation of their hair care products work for me!
  • Safeas Fig Hydro Active Moisturizing Cream: Although it contains glycerin – which I tend to avoid – my skin was happy with this sample. The consistency is lighter than most creams I use, so this could be a product for summer.

I used up a lot more samples than these ones, and afterwards my skin showed me that I should get rid of my sample stash. Okay, you won. Continue reading “Zeitgeist #6”

What happened the last weeks? I’ll give you a short catch-up to my beauty world!

Buys and Rebuys

I like the Lavera Pink Energy Shower Gel very much. It smells really refreshing and energizing in a fruity way, and it contains extracts of pink grapefruit and pink pepper. This was a limited edition and when I wanted to rebuy the shower gel, it was no longer available in most stores. When I finally found a shop that had it in stock, I bought two shower gels and a body lotion as backup. The shower gel lathers very well for a natural one, and mostly after biking to work I enjoyed using it. If you find a store that has some of those left, smell if you like the fragrance!

Vivaness Highlights

I went to the natural and organic beauty trade fair Vivaness in February, and finally I can share some of my personal highlights.

Aromata Mirabilia – Lithuania

vivaness2015_aromatamirabilia_01
Aromata Mirabilia was one of my favourites! They have aromatherapy balms and candles, oils and oilblends, hydrosols, mazerates, soaps and so much more to discover. The prices are pretty low in comparison to other known brands. I like the simple style and layout of the containers and am in love with their strawberry lip scrub.

Florascent – Germany

vivaness2015_florascent_02
Florascent provide a very wide range of all kind of perfume and aromatherapy sprays. I was overwhelmed with the variety of the products and have by now bought two aromatherapy sprays. You can spray them on your hands and inhale the scent – perfect for headache moments at work!

Martina Gebhardt – Germany

vivaness2015_mg-summertime
Martina Gebhardt‘s new Summer Time Line is made especially to provide moisture to the skin, to prevent and help heal sun damages. The cream is my absolute go-to-product, and despite it is a very heavy cream, it sinks into my skin and makes it as hydrated as possible. For me and my oily-dry-skin the best cream ever.

Mysalifree – Austria

vivaness2015_mysalifree_01
Mysalifree addresses to people that are allergic against salicylic acid and have irritated skin. The products are composed to calm the skin and do not contain gluten, essential oils or perfume, dyes and other nasties. The eye balm is a gel-like lotion and sinks in pretty quickly:
vivaness2015_mysalifree_02

Unique – Denmark

vivaness2015_unique_cornflower_01
vivaness2015_unique_more_04
Unique work with organic whey which is a waste product in dairy production. The smell of the products is divine, and in future they will lance a new hair oil that is incredibly lightweight for an oil blend. I put about 5 drops of oil in the lengths of my hair and it was all soaked up and left my hair shiny and my natural waves a little defined but not greasy at all. Hopefully it will be in the shops this summer!

Zuii Organic – Australia

vivaness2015_zuii_01
Zuii is my absolutely most-loved make-up brand. Instead of talc they use milled flowers as base of their powder products, and the organic amount in their formulations is pretty high! I am soon going to show a super easy eye make-up with only black and white eye shadow!

vivaness2015_zuii_02
The packaging is sophisticated black, also the containers themselves, and you can see one of the eye shadows in my blog header 🙂 .

Friends

vivaness2015_friends
What would life be without the best co-bloggers? I got some really nice and special green beauty products:

  • Frau Wuselig gave me a Living Nature foundation that I use at least two times a week.
  • Nixenhaar had the darkest shade of Hauschka’s new foundation left over and it was way too dark for her – good for me, as the shade is nearly exactly my summer complexion.
  • Anita gave me a Ponyhütchen deodorant cream as present which I am curios to try.
  • Ahnungslose Wissende brought a Kivvi Body Marmalade with her to thank me for fetching her from the station the day she went to the fair.

I can recommend all four brands for further exploration!

What are your recent beauty highlights?

1 Year Blogging Anniversary

anniversary

A year ago I posted my first blogpost on Kosmetik natürlich. I was very nervous: would anyone read my blog? Was anyone interested in what I have to say? Today I know that the answer is yes. Sometimes my articles are mainstream, but I have also specials like my oily-dry-skin blogposts that are read by lots of people that do not follow my blog.

My writing style changed, the way I take photos changed – bless god! – and I change, too: I take loads of photos now, I write in English, and I learn a lot about the internet and life. In the beginning no one commented on my blog. Maybe the readers did not know what to think of my blog or they did not want to sign in an account to be able to comment. But after a while I had commenting readers: Thank you!

Then the server which hosted my blog crashed. Everything but the plain text was gone and I was scared: would I ever get my photos and layout back into my articles? That’s when I first thought about getting my own domain and web space. So here I am, like Phönix from the ashes, with my two domains (GreenConscience.de and GreenConscience.org) that together are my blog!

By now I have written about 100 blogposts and have about 70 followers on both my English and German blog. A blog is nothing without it’s readers, so again Thank you! In the last time I bought give-aways for you, and now at my anniversary, I want to share with you some beauty and wellness products:

giveaway_all

The give-aways are posted in separate blog posts both on my German blog and here, so If you have a German shipping address you can take part there, too. Three of the six parcels ship international, though, and will be posted here.

Zeitgeist #1

What’s been on in the last weeks?

Dr. Hauschka changed the design of most of their products by now, after the skin care products the body care followed. According to this alteration in layout, some of the products got a new packaging. Some of the body lotions are no longer packed in glass bottles but come in tubes instead, so now you can get every little bit of lotion out of the container. They have worked hard on a solution on that known problem, and I think, they solved it in a good way.

I have watched the third season of Switched at Birth and really like the characters and how everyone has to solve the “problem” with Daphne being deaf. To some words of German sign language (coffee, tea, family, smart phone, which I already can sign) I learned some ASL ones, like amazing and sorry. If you like soaps, have a look. If you are more the Blacklist-type, the second season is just being aired.

If you are more into reading and like easy young-adult fiction, have a look at Mythos Academy. It’s more like watching a film and eating popcorn than high literature, and I like a page-turner once in a while. By now I have gone through the first four books, the rest is already ordered.

We are planning our vacation to New Zealand, it takes a lot of time to read all the travel literature and mark interesting places on the maps. The whole living room is covered in maps and books and photo stuff (my husband got a new camera and has to shoot like thousands of photos to get all the features of the camera) which makes me happy: finally, New Zealand is just a few months away, and my anticipation is growing.

Link Love!

  • I have seen a beautiful eye make-up on Roses of Beauty, looks simple but versatile.
  • Zao Cosmetics sells eyeshadows, powders etc. in refillable bamboo containers, read more about it on Pura Liv – she shows lots of photos, too.
  • Marula Oil seems to be an oil that could work superb with my oily-dry skin, read about it on Jenni Raincloud.
  • Another choice for me could be a facial oil blend from Blue Labelle, Beatuy Balm got some samples of these very affordable blends.
  • My small make-up bag has been shown on Beautyjagd, have a look what I carry around with me on week end trips!

On my German blog I wrote some posts that might be interesting for you:

  • I like bergamot and have a full body routine with it!
  • Last week I bought both Lily Lolo eyeshadow palettes and posted lots and lots of photos of the packaging, the palettes, the single colours and some swatches.
  • How to find a facial oil that suits you? I blogged about my way through the beauty jungle.
  • My summer love: Sante No. 21 Coral Pink nail polish. Long lasting and beautiful.
  • Also general thoughts about blogging have been up on my German blog, mostly about transparency and free samples.

On what did you spend your time the last weeks? Did something interesting happen?

End of summer

The last days have been warm, but it can’t be denied any longer: finally, summer is gone. The weather has been a little bit stormy and rainy here. When you go for a walk, leave your umbrella at home – it would most certainly fly away as soon as the first drops begin to fall. Instead, wear a waterproof hooded jacket.

Some two or three days ago we went out for a walk and found ourselves chased after by a cloudburst. The sky was grey and became darker every second, we had to hurry to our car. We didn’t make it and our shoes were soaking wet.

end_of_summer_equinox

The day after, same change in the weather while standing at a window: it took only two minutes from grey sky to thunder shower with hail!

equinox_rain

When autumn begins, the colours change. I do not like the uncertain weather, but I like how the trees and bushes slowly turn from green to red to golden yellow. It makes me think about change, outer and inner change. I will not wear the same make-up when the light is that different from summer, and sure my clothing is warmer now. God bye, spaghetti strap top, hello jumper!

But just as much I think about myself: what did change in the past, did I like that or not and if not, is there some possibility to make it a change for the better? At this point of the year it is time for a resumé. Only when you know where you come from and where you want to head to, you can make a course correction.

So take your time, think about your life. Do you live your life or do you actually feel as if someone made all decisions for you, so there are no choices left? Break the vicious circle! Of course you have to do all the urgent things on your to do list, but pick something important that you want to achieve in the medium term. Go for it!

What do you like more: hot summer or soft, colour changing autumn?
