How to Change your Life in 2018 with Affirmations

So now it’s 2018, everything has changed and nothing has changed. I’m not a big fan of new year’s resolutions, instead I will work with affirmations and some simple root cause analyses.

My affirmations will be:

  • I love myself and who I am right now.
  • I love my life.

But how do these sentences change my life?

This is a common misunderstanding. Affirmations do not change your life, only you can change your life. But affirmations are a heavenly tool to help you!


How to work with affirmations

  1. Read out loud.
  2. Embrace the words, re-read them a couple of times in your thoughts.
  3. Reflect the affirmation: How do you feel?
  4. Ask yourself if this affirmation is actually true for you.
  5. If it is not (yet) true: Why not? What obstacles are in your way?
  6. And what exactly hinders you to overcome those obstacles?
  7. Think about these things that keep you away from feeling that the affirmation is true for you.
  8. What and how can you change about them? What can you change this month, this week, today, now?
  9. Write down one or more actions or make you remember them some other way.
  10. Picture yourself how you actually do some of these things and how happy you are while doing them.
  11. Read out loud the affirmation again and embrace the positive feeling (because you know the first step to make it happen)!

I’d like to give you an impression of my personal work with my affirmations for 2018.
I really like my life, but there are things that I’d like to change in 2018, so that I can really LOVE my life.

I love my life.

How do you feel with this affirmation?
I feel like there is something missing.

Ask yourself if this affirmation is actually true for you.
No, this affirmation does not feel true. I like my life, but I do not love it with all my heart.

If it is not (yet) true: Why not? What obstacles are in your way?
I feel insecure often, and I don’t like that I mess around with the household. I’d love to live by the sea. I really miss the sound of the waves all year round!

And what exactly hinders you to overcome those obstacles?
If we were to move to the sea, where exactly would that be? Is there work for me and my husband? Would we miss our city with 5 walking minutes to different shops, restaurants and would we miss our friends?

Think about these things that keep you away from feeling that the affirmation is true for you.
We would make new friends, and we could arrange not being in the city. But what about work?

What and how can you change about them? What can you change this month, this week, today, now?
We could have holidays at different places near the sea, and then we would be able to get a feeling for new places to live.
We could check job pages on the internet if interesting jobs are available near the sea.
I could declutter my home so that I will be ready to move as soon as there is a really good opportunity!

Picture yourself how you actually do some of these things and how happy you are while doing them.
Yes, I can totally check the internet, and I can totally declutter our home. I’ll start with the kitchen, move on to the bathroom, and then I can get rid of old clothes.

The first steps to move to the sea are to declutter our home, check job opportunities, and have holidays at the sea. Those activities, in the end, will lead us to a home at the sea.

Read out loud the affirmation again and embrace the positive feeling (because you know the first step to make it happen)!
I love my life (because I’m working towards the life I really LOVE)!
